C.L. Lewis & Company will be teaming with the award-winning architectural firm VMDO to provide preconstruction and construction services on the Additions & Renovations to Cochran Library. The library is a classic Georgian style building designed in the early 1920s by Ralph Adams Cram.
Cochran is located in the heart of Sweet Briar College’s 3,250-acre campus. The library system consists of a main library building, the Mary Helen Cochran Library, and three other facilities.
As part of this project, a 1970s addition to the Cochran Library will be demolished. The 24,000 square foot renovation and 16,000 gross square foot addition will provide further patron space as well as book storage space needed to consolidate portions of the collection located in the three alternate facilities.
