The State Theatre has been a landmark in downtown Culpeper (Virginia) since 1938…and renovations by C.L. Lewis will soon raise its profile even further. Efforts now underway will more than double the size of the facility from its original 11,000-square-foot floorplan to 28,000 square feet. Along the way, C.L. Lewis will balance the nostalgic aesthetics of the site with modern day improvements in mechanical systems and accessibility. At the close of the project, the State will emerge as rejuvenated centerpiece for the region’s performing arts, with a 550-seat auditorium and 50-foot stage.
